editing your profile

What makes you the awesome-sauce that you are? With illumy, you’re in control, and you can show and share like never before! illumy makes it easy for you to tell the world (or just your friends and fam) who you are and what you’re all about. So, go on! Fill out your profile with your contact info, pic, likes, hobbies, interests, family, etc.

Here’s how to get started.

  1. Sign in to the illumy app on your phone or in a supported browser.
  2. Click or tap the illumy logo/sprite in the upper left corner of the window.
      1. In a web browser, select the Contacts option in the menu. Your profile is displayed by default.
      2. On the mobile app, select My Profile.
  3. At the top of the My Profile window, there are links to six areas within My Profile:
      1. My Profile Photo
      2. Contact Info
      3. Basic Info
      4. Education
      5. Relationships
      6. Likes
  4. Tap or click the tab that has the information you want to change or add. On a mobile device, you may need to swipe left to see all of the sections.

The photo or avatar you add here will be visible to everyone you interact with on illumy (even outside illumy). It’s the only thing you can’t change permission settings on. Changing your photo is pretty simple, and we’ve provided step-by-step instructions for you.

The other five sections in your My Profile all function basically the same way. Enter your info in the fields provided, add more fields where appropriate, change the labels, and set permissions for each piece of info.

  • Enter text into the fields provided.
  • Create additional fields (where possible) by clicking the “+” in a blue square next to the subsection title (Email, Phone, Languages, Hobbies, etc.).
  • Delete a field by clicking the red “x” in a circle. If you don’t see it, try adding a field first, then deleting the one you don’t want anymore. If that doesn’t work, it means that field is required and cannot be deleted.
  • Change a label—for example, “Home” for your home address—by clicking the drop-down arrow to the left of the field.
  • Double-check your information. If you enter an invalid email address or other detail, a red error message displays just below the field.
  • Change permissions by clicking the drop-down menu on the right. Learn more about setting permissions.
  • Save your changes.
    • In a web browser, your changes are saved automatically. If something wasn’t saved, it may mean the entry wasn’t valid. Enter it again, and double-check to make sure it’s right. If you encounter a problem, let us know: support@illumy.com.
    • In the mobile app, tap “Done” in the upper right of the screen to save, or tap “Cancel” on the top left to exit without saving.
