Winter is nearly upon us—on top of everything else that is going on in the world. If you’re like us, you could use some cheering up right around now. As the days get shorter and the weather becomes cooler (and we spend more time indoors than ever), we’ve been keeping our spirits up with TV shows, old and new. Here are a few of our favorites:

Netflix shows we love

  1. Our Planet: David Attenborough provides the narration alongside stunning depictions of Earth’s most amazing animals and landscapes.
  2. The Great British Baking Show: Amateur cooks engage in friendly competition to be named Britain’s best baker.
  3. Ugly Delicious: Famed chef David Chang travels the world to share meals and build community with celebrities and food professionals.
  4. The Repair Shop: Craftspeople at Britain’s Weald and Downland Living Museum restore people’s treasured heirlooms.
  5. The Office: Cubicle denizens “narrate” their experiences at a Scranton, PA, paper-supply company in this sweet, cringe-comedy mockumentary.

Hulu shows we can’t get enough of

  1. Diners, Drive-Ins, and Dives: Roving chef Guy Fieri visits mom-and-pop restaurants from coast to coast, trying local delicacies along the way.
  2. Pen15: Two best friends navigate the trials of adolescence in this hilarious depiction of teenage life in the early ‘00s.
  3. Love It or List It: Designer Hilary and real estate broker David help families decide whether to enhance their current abode or make a move to better digs.
  4. Frasier: Snooty psychiatrist Dr. Frasier Crane offers life advice on a radio show in ‘90s Seattle—while coming to terms with family members who don’t always see the world the way he does.
  5. Too Cute: Adorable animals explore their surroundings and make new friends in this Animal Planet docuseries.

YouTube shows (and channels) we adore

  1. Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee: Comedian Jerry Seinfeld picks up other funny people for a drive to riff on life, cars, and—yes—coffee.
  2. How It’s Made: An inside look at how factories around the globe make products large and small—from food products to massive pieces of machinery.
  3. Hacksmith Industries: The “Hacksmith,” engineer James Hobson, creates wild and wacky projects and prototypes to show viewers what’s possible with some tinkering.
  4. Comedy Central Stand-Up: Shorts and full-length stand-up specials from some of the world’s funniest people, both those you’ve heard of and those you haven’t.
  5. FailArmy: Compilations and supercuts of both fails and wins—reminding all of us that to err may be human, but to fail is divine.
