illumy is not the same old thing with a fresh coat of paint. illumy was created for the way we communicate today. It’s email, reimagined.

Yes. You have ultimate control over who and how you connect with others in illumy. Your Contacts are the only ones allowed to interact with you.
Email was built over 40 years ago and predates the World Wide Web by 17 years. It was originally designed to allow electronic communications across a public internet, instead of using paper and postage stamps. Fast-forward to today, and email hasn’t changed much. It’s still basic text sent to individual email addresses that have folders to organize incoming and outgoing email messages. Email technology involves a series of servers that automatically send messages to other servers and out to more than 5.2 billion email accounts worldwide.
Unfortunately, the majority of email is neither private nor secure. Emails are sent and received using human-readable text, and most email providers don’t use encryption to protect the contents. Plus, messages hop between multiple email services, domains, and servers—and each can retain a copy of your message. Because of this, a message—including its attachments—can exist in several places at once and easily be intercepted by malicious third parties. This is one of the main reasons we created illumy: to provide secure, private email service with a modern and media-rich persistent messaging experience.

Messaging

The messaging app is secure and easy to use. To get started using messenger, create your user account by signing in to the website or downloading the iPhone or Android app:

Sign up on your desktop or laptop computer.

Download our mobile app from the App Store or Google Play.

Once you create your account, start sending messages to your friends by using their email addresses or by inviting them to join illumy.

Instant messenger apps allow you to communicate quickly from a variety of devices using rich text, emojis, giphys, videos, and live photos. Unlike SMS, our messenger also lets you communicate using multiple types of devices, including mobile phones, laptop and desktop computers, and tablets. There is never a per-message fee, and you can communicate with people anywhere in the world.

Messaging apps allow you to keep in regular contact with the people you know, focusing more on conversations than broadcasts. Messaging allows us to communicate more casually and easily than other methods. That said, not all messaging apps have the same features or benefits that illumy offers. For example, illumy allows you to message with people who may or may not be on illumy, and we take your privacy very seriously.

It allowed people to send and receive messages to each other in real time (while both people were online), instead of sending something and waiting hours, days, or even weeks for a reply. However, it was usually limited to a single platform (such as AOL) on a single device (a PC or Mac).
Building on this idea, illumy created persistent messaging that works across device, doesn’t require the recipient to be online, syncs in the cloud so your message history is available (no matter where you’re signed in—even on a mobile device), and allows you to chat with up to 100 people at once.

Typically, texting requires a mobile device and has character limits and restrictions on what types of media you can share. Texting is not always in real time. You can send a text and not get a reply back for hours or days, which is why it’s a very convenient way to interact. Instant messaging, on the other hand, is real-time conversation conducted primarily from computers. illumy brings you the best of both worlds with Persistent Messaging, which can operate from any device and allows all media types (text, emojis, giphys, pictures, voice, video, etc.) to be shared. Conversations can take place in real time or at your convenience, and you can start or resume a conversation from any device with your illumy account.
illumy works anywhere you are. That includes countries around the world that offer the ability to connect to the open internet. If you have internet access, you can use illumy to send messages to anyone, either through illumy (if they’re members) or using their email address. It’s that simple.

illumy is a secure messaging app using 256-bit encryption from your connected device to our secure cloud servers. illumy users can send messages to each other privately, without worrying about their data being intercepted by anyone.

We might be biased, but you should definitely use illumy. It takes the best features of texting, chat, email, and IM and combines them into a single, simple interface.
illumy is changing the way the world communicates by bringing together the benefits of messaging, text, chat, and email with voice and video calling to deliver a rich, contextual messaging experience. Sign up and see for yourself!
