Cats are wise animals. They were worshiped by the Egyptians as gods, and humans who are owned by cats certainly understand why. They’re confident, graceful, and cuddly companion animals.

Here are some of our favorite famous-people quotes that reveal the awesome relationship we have with our cats.

1. Hippolyte Taine

A noted historian, political theorist, and literary figure, Hippolyte placed a high value on philosophy, science, and literature. As with so many of his time involved in academic pursuits, he adored the company—and philosophy—of cats.

2. Leonardo da Vinci

Vanity has never been a concern for felines. They know they’re beautiful, superior, and worth your time. They spending a lot of time grooming themselves and tend to be fastidious pets. Da Vinci nailed it.

3. Mark Twain

The revered Mr. Twain didn’t have to demean man’s best friend to make the point that cats have a delicate sensibility and a quiet demeanor that elicits respect from even the most ardent dog lovers.

4. Charles Dickens

Have you ever wondered why cats, which are not fully domesticated, are attracted to people? Theories and speculations abound. One thing’s for sure: There’s something special about the love of these furry predators.

Cats are unimpressed with intellect. They assume they’re smarter than us, anyway. Ultimately, though, cats are concerned more about how you treat them than about your IQ.

The Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland author clearly received inspiration from his feline companions. The Cheshire Cat, anyone?

As you can see, cats are teach us confidence, beauty, and not caring what others think of them. We can all learn from these graceful, purring creatures. 🐈
